• The Measuring Principle

  The adhesive side of the Corneofix® is applied to the skin area to be measured for only a very short time. We recommend using the optional pressure-aid-instrument. A small pin inside the shaft of the tool moves upwards when you press the integrated spring onto the tape on the skin. With your finger on top of the tool you can precisely control the pressure applied to enhance the reproducibility of measurements.

   

  On removing the tape from the skin, the corneocytes will stick to the tape. Many thick, large corneocytes can only be collected when the skin is dehydrated or even damaged. Sufficiently hydrated skin shows small regular flakes.

• Advantages of the Corneofix®

  • The method is quick, easy and economical.
  • An optional pressure-aid-instrument enhances reproducibility of measurements because it applies constant contact pressure of the tape on the skin.
  • The Corneofix® is a perfect addition to the Visioscan® skin camera to digitalize the flakes on the screen. With the software, the number, size and area covered with flakes can be evaluated as well as the desquamation index well known in literature.
  • The tape is ideally suitable for skin stripping. The collected desquamation is evaluated chemically or spectrometrically for protein content or any other bioassays.
  • There is a number of studies performed with this interesting foil.

   

  Corneofix® is available in different shapes and sizes:

• Fields of Application

  In cosmetology, the moisture content of the skin is one of the most important parameters for formulation and efficacy testing.

   

  Typical claims (examples) substantiated with the Corneofix®: supports skin renewal, exfoliating, against dry/scaly skin, and more. The foil can also be used on the nail.

   

  Corneofix® is perfectly suitable for skin surface strippings for the various applications. The collected desquamation is evaluated chemically or spectrometrically for protein content or any other bioassays.
